Fans of Disney’s 2019 Aladdin live-action remake have been waiting years for a sequel, but hopes may be fading. Although Aladdin 2 was announced in 2020 with director Guy Ritchie and stars like Will Smith, Mena Massoud, and Naomi Scott expected to return, the project has since gone silent.

In 2023, Massoud hinted that the sequel might be “dead in the water,” fueling speculation that the film has been shelved. No production updates or release dates have surfaced, and Disney has yet to officially confirm the sequel’s status.

While fan demand remains high, Aladdin 2 is currently stuck in development limbo—more mirage than magic carpet ride. Until we hear otherwise, this sequel remains a wish that’s still waiting to be granted.
