After multiple delays and creative shakeups, Marvel Studios has officially confirmed that the Blade reboot—starring Mahershala Ali—is still in development. According to Marvel boss Kevin Feige, the new version will be set in modern day, abandoning earlier plans for a 1920s-era storyline.

The film has gone through several directors and at least four script rewrites. But Feige emphasized that Marvel is aiming for something “insanely great,” not just another leather-clad vampire hunter. The tone is expected to be darker and more character-driven, likely with an R rating.
While no release date has been announced, Feige says the project is very much alive—they’re just taking the time to get it right.
