More than a decade after selling Lucasfilm to Disney, Star Wars creator George Lucas has made it clear he has emotionally and professionally moved on from the franchise. Speaking to WSJ Magazine, Lucas addressed whether he still follows Disney’s direction for the saga, stating:
“Disney took it over and they gave it their vision. That’s what happens. Of course I’ve moved past it. I mean, I’ve got a life.”
According to People, Lucas has shifted his focus toward the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles, moving away from filmmaking and investing his creative energy into preserving narrative history. Disney’s 2012 acquisition of Lucasfilm marked a new direction for the franchise with releases like The Force Awakens, and as reported by GamesRadar+, Lucas no longer has any role in managing or shaping future installments.
While fans continue to debate whether Disney’s take on Star Wars aligns with Lucas’s mythic foundations, the creator himself appears at peace with stepping away. He crafted a universe that defined generations — and now, it exists without him at the helm.
